Wonderful Expressive Writing

A Famous Person I Would Like To Interview: Barack Obama By Jhardel A famous person I would like to interview would probably be Barack Obama. Obama is currently the 44th president of the United States and has been since November 4, 2008. He has two children Malia and Natasha Obama and his spouse is Michelle Obama. Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in a small island called Honolulu in Hawaii. I would like to interview him because he is my favourite world leader and he also makes the right decisions. Obama is in control of the world's largest trade economy and in charge of the world’s largest weapons arsenal. He is really wise and makes difficult choices for America. The questions I would ask him would be: “How many other presidents and prime ministers have you met? What was one of your hardest decisions be? Do you want Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton to be elected 45th President of the U.S.A?, and many other relevant questions. One day I would like to visit the White House and would like to meet my favourite world leader. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ An Inspiring Older Person By Genevieve We are learning to write amazing adjectives to capture the mind of the reader. He may be dead, but my grandfather, Jasper James La’Brooy, is still a memory in my father’s heart. I can’t remember him, mainly because I wasn’t born before he died, but my dad told me interesting stories about Grandad when he was still alive. He used to work in a lighthouse in a town called Tangasseri, Kerala, India, and we get free admission inside because we’re his family, so yay! About the lighthouse, Tangasseri Lighthouse has a great structure and sports a spiral staircase that leads up into the little wooden room at the top with the lamp above it. There is one door, leading onto the balcony, where one can get great views of the ferocious sea. It pretty much has all the features that a normal lighthouse does, though there is something about it that makes it so special. Probably because my grandfather used to work in it. Anyway, my grandfather owned a large house called Marie Villa, which was funny because my grandmother was called Marie. Parties were held frequently and I honestly wish I was alive then, although my dad said I wouldn’t get any sleep. But I still wanted to be there. The point is, my grandfather was a very amazing person, judging from the stories that my dad told me. And now it’s very sad that I am not able to see him anytime during my life. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A Person Who Inspires Me By Conor The person that inspires me is Ronaldo in soccer because he is the most famous football player to ever live. At the moment he is the best football player in the world and he has been playing football since 2003. He is also the youngest player to play football. The very first club he played for professionally was his hometown Lisbon, Portugal. Ronaldo spent three years at that club until he got offered a position at Manchester United by Sir Alex Ferguson. At the time he was the most successful manager in the world so therefore Ronaldo accepted the position in the club. After Ronaldo’s first year in the club Sir Alex Ferguson relied on him more because of how good he did in the first year of being the main substitute. He was put in the right midfielding position and scored a lot of goals. In 2007 Ronaldo became the best football player in the world and got paid a whopping 132 million pounds. After 2007 he was also named footballer of the year in 2007 and 2008 which is one of the highest rated trophies you could get. Sadly in 2009 he was offered a left midfielder position for Real Madrid which was the most successful club in the world also with Jose Mourinho who took over Sir Alex Ferguson for the best manager and Ronaldo joined. Ronaldo still plays for Real Madrid to this very day and is the highest goal scorer in the world and has won over thirty trophies. As a kid Ronaldo played in the streets with his friends ever since he was five while his mum was looking after the house because his dad left them when he was two. That's the life of Ronaldo, the person who inspires me. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Famous Landmark I’d Like to Visit By Alexandra The famous landmark I would like to visit would be the moon because I would like to experience something new and interesting. If I went to the moon I would like to walk on it and maybe try to moon walk. It would be fun and exciting. It might feel weird floating around in a spaceship. If I ever got the chance to go to the moon I wouldn't want to be alone. I will feel scared and worried what will happen to me on my own. No one will be able to help or protect me. I probably would never get the chance in a lifetime to go to the moon. That’s why I would like to take advantage when I am there. I would look around and see if I can see the other planets from there. I can only imagine when I am at home, how I will be able to survive when I am in the moon. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Best Gifts I Ever Received By Aaron I don’t know what my best gift is, the cliche thing to do is to love but I'm more “original”. I can’t think of anything so I’ll just think of all the stuff my parents got for me that I would treasure. I once got a globe of the Earth for Christmas. You would probably be thinking that “oh, lame gift”. Well one, it shows how nerdy I am, and two you can actually open the two hemispheres so it shows a secret storage place. I also have a watch. It’s both analogue and digital with a small display on the bottom. The different modes on the display are date, time, alarm (the noise it makes is really annoying), stopwatch and dual time (which is set to Philippine time). It’s also waterproof of up to 200m which is 150m more than Owen’s watch but I beg to differ. I don’t actually know what that phrase means. So those are two of the gifts that my parents gave me at Christmas that I’ll treasure that I still have and will always take care and love.

Being a Merciful Leader

Our class attended a leadership meeting with other students from four Catholic schools at Catholic Cathedral College. It was a great opportunity to meet new friends, work in groups and share ideas and experiences and participate in discussion. We played games, learnt a few songs, listened to an inspiring speaker named Nathan, attended the mass celebrated by Fr John and had reflection in the afternoon. The day went quickly and we had so much fun enjoying various fantastic activities.

Alice was one of the team leaders.

Waitangi Day

Day was celebrated on February 9. The students were asked to wear clothes that represented their families' culture and bring food for shared lunch. It was a fantastic day with everyone enjoying and experiencing the cultural diversity of St Mary's School such as tasting the different kinds of food. We did some Maori art by drawing koru, sang songs and created short and long sticks for games in the afternoon.
